    Mule Deer

Arizona is home to some of the most coveted mule deer hunting in the West, where desert flats, high country forests, and broken canyonlands produce trophy-class bucks year after year. With opportunities ranging from velvet archery hunts in the summer to late-season rifle hunts during the rut, Arizona offers unmatched variety. The state’s strong genetics, diverse terrain, and well-managed herds make it one of the premier destinations for hunters pursuing the mule deer of a lifetime.

  • Accommodations on these hunts vary widely depending on the unit and style of hunt.

In some cases, you’ll stay in comfortable lodges or cabins, often featuring multiple bedrooms, hot meals, and modern conveniences like WiFi. These setups provide a home-base feel, where hunters can relax after long days afield with all the essentials provided.

Other hunts may operate from more traditional base camps or even hotels near hunting areas. Base camps often include heated wall tents, cots, hearty camp meals, and a more rustic feel that places you closer to the action.

Because accommodations vary by location, hunters should be prepared for both ends of the spectrum unless they specifically request a preferred option when booking.

  • Travel logistics also vary by unit. Most hunters fly into Phoenix. Drive times to camp or lodge are typically under two hours.

For added convenience, YOTE can handle all travel arrangements including flights and ground transportation, so you can focus on the hunt and leave the logistics to us.

  • Hunts are conducted on public lands with options for both rifle and archery. Spot-and-stalk is the primary method, with hunters glassing expansive country for mature bucks before making their move. The diverse terrain provides opportunities to test your skills, whether it’s stalking quietly through pinyon and juniper flats or climbing ridges for a better vantage point.

All hunts are fully guided, and the outfitter handles the pack-out once your mule deer is on the ground. Hunters can pursue deer through Arizonas general draw system or even take advantage of Arizona’s OTC (Over The Counter) tag system. YOTE can help with TAG applications and answer any questions you might have. Please don’t hesitate to call!

Seasons run from late August through late January, giving you a wide window to plan your trip around the rut, late-season hunts, or early archery opportunities.
