Fly Fishing is The Preferred Method
Gunnison River Farms offers one of the top fly-fishing experiences in the Rockies, with exclusive access to the Lower Gunnison River’s wild browns and rainbows and some of Colorado’s best wilderness float fishing. As the only lodge on this stretch, they put you on untouched water with consistent shots at quality trout, including excellent dry-fly action during key hatches. Days are spent floating clear freestone runs and targeting rising fish with guides who know every bend of the canyon. After fishing, guests return to the grounds for comfortable cabin lodging, farm-fresh meals, and sweeping canyon and orchard views. It’s an ideal destination for anglers who want high-level fishing paired with a relaxed, scenic basecamp.

Black Canyon Anglers delivers one of the West’s premier trout experiences, with exclusive access to a wild stretch of the Gunnison known for 20-inch+ browns and rainbows.
The season starts with the explosive Salmonfly Hatch, followed by dependable PMD, caddis, and attractor dry-fly fishing through summer. Canyon floats are technical and highly productive, with shots along foam lines, boulder seams, and undercuts, plus opportunities for dry-dropper and streamer eats in deep pockets and shaded slots.
In late September and October, the focus shifts to the Lower Gunnison, where clear water and aggressive pre-spawn browns create another strong window.
Big wild trout, expert guides, and exclusive river access make this one of the most complete and rewarding fisheries in the Rockies.
