New Mexico offers hunters some of the best antelope hunting in the West, with wide-open prairies, incredible visibility, and healthy herds that consistently produce quality bucks. Whether you’re bowhunting during the action-packed archery season or glassing and stalking with a rifle across miles of rolling country, every hunt demands patience, skill, and a sharp eye. Guided hunts ensure hunters have every advantage, from spotting to recovery, making this a premier destination for chasing trophy antelope.

  • For antelope hunts in New Mexico, accommodations will primarily be out of nearby hotels for convenience and quick access to hunting areas. Hunters can expect clean, comfortable rooms with modern amenities, allowing you to rest and recharge between long days in the field. This approach keeps travel simple and efficient, ensuring the focus remains on the hunt itself.

YOTE takes care of booking and coordinating hotel accommodations, so you can arrive knowing every detail is already handled.

  • Travel logistics also vary by unit. Most hunters fly into Albuquerque, which serves as the most common hub, though El Paso and Phoenix can be closer depending on where the hunt is taking place. Drive times to camp or lodge are typically under two hours.

For added convenience, YOTE can handle all travel arrangements including flights and ground transportation, so you can focus on the hunt and leave the logistics to us.

  • These hunts are offered for all weapons: archery, rifle, and muzzleloader, giving hunters multiple ways to pursue trophy antelope.

Archery antelope hunts are fast-paced, exciting, and visually stunning. Spot-and-stalk is the primary method, with hunters glassing vast prairies for mature bucks before carefully closing the distance. Decoying can add another layer of adrenaline, as curious antelope often charge in to investigate, giving bowhunters thrilling opportunities at close range. Every stalk demands patience, stealth, and precision, making an archery antelope hunt one of the most rewarding challenges in the West.

Rifle and muzzleloader seasons bring a different style of pursuit, centered around long days of glassing and strategic stalks across New Mexico’s wide-open country. With their incredible eyesight and unmatched speed, antelope are among the most challenging animals to approach, rewarding hunters who can read the terrain and execute a careful plan. Rifle hunters will have chances at mature bucks with excellent horn development, often from impressive distances while Muzzleloader hunters will still fight the challenge of getting close.

All hunts are fully guided, and once a buck is on the ground, the outfitter assists with recovery and care of the animal.

Securing a tag is an essential part of the process. New Mexico operates on a lottery draw system for non-resident antelope tags, but outfitters often have access to landowner permits that guarantee hunters the chance to pursue trophy bucks without relying on the draw. This flexibility makes New Mexico particularly attractive, ensuring that hunters have a strong pathway to tags and opportunities even in competitive seasons.

YOTE can assist clients with every step of this process, from navigating the state’s draw system to securing landowner permits through our outfitter network so hunters can focus on the adventure, not the paperwork.
