Salmon

  • Typical Season

    Salmon Fishing is done when Salmon return to the rivers from the sea in order to spawn. Typically, this happens during the months of July-September.

  • Difficulty Level

    There are 5 distinct species of Pacific Salmon. Pink, Sockeye, Chum, Coho, and Chinook.

    Pink, Chum, and Sockeye are the easiest to land and are great for beginners or family fishing trips. Kings ad Coho can be more challenging for the Fly-Angler.

  • Regions

    Salmon are found along the upper Pacific Northwest all the way to Alaska.

    Salmon can also be fished in parts of Europe and South America.

  • Gear

    Salmon are usually fished for with 8-10 weight rods. In most applications, you will need sinking or intermediate lines.

    For the conventional angler, medium to heavy tackle is usually best suited for Salmon fishing.
