Typical Season
Elk hunts run late summer through fall, with early seasons focused on archery and the rut in September, and later rifle seasons extending into October and November.

Hunt style
Primarily spot-and-stalk or calling-based hunts in mountainous terrain. Hunts can be moderately to highly physical, with archery hunts centered on close-range encounters during the rut and rifle hunts involving longer glassing and shooting distances.

Found throughout the Western and Southwestern United States, including mountain, timber, and high-desert habitats.
